Happy New Year! We are proud to honor Sam Voige as our Quick Links to Popular Schedules Welcome to the YMCA The YMCA of the USA makes up the largest nonprofit community service organization in America. In 1858, just seven years after the YMCA came to this country from England, the first Y opened in Atlanta. Caught in the middle of the Civil War, the Y disappeared in 1864, but was reorganized in 1873, and has since been in continuous operation.
The Cowart Family Ashford Dunwoody Branch was chartered in 1973 and built its existing facility in 1987. We now serve more than 10,000 members, employ 250 people, and work with 500 volunteers each year. Some of our programs offered are teen leadership, childcare, youth sports, aquatics, day camp, youth and teen outreach, and health and wellness. Character Development — We accomplish our mission through programs that develop character by teaching and demonstrating the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Facility Membership — YMCA members have access to all the facilities and programs offered at YMCAs in the metro Atlanta area. Program Memberships — Program Members may participate in selected programs without the facility amenities. Individual and family program memberships are available on an annual basis. Your YMCA, reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, is an association of volunteers, members and staff, open to and serving all, providing programs and services which develop spirit, mind, and body. Financial assistance is available based on need. The YMCA actively seeks to identify and involve those in need. |
